The Tortoise and the Hairpiece is the story of a lonely young tortoise named Jake who is embarrassed by his bald head. Even though other animals invite him to play, he keeps to himself, positive that nobody will really want to be his friend because he looks different. When he tries to look like everyone else, it doesn't quite work the way he planned. After getting some help from a local misguided buzzard and a wise owl, he learns that everyone is best at being themselves and that he doesn't need to try to be someone else or look like someone else just to make friends. True friends care about Jake for who he is inside and that's what makes him special.

It's a great resource for climate change research, and a new version should be out soon.. I don't want to slam this book, as it is obviously full of great information and the author made a real effort to explain everything clearly. They are the cutest calendars ever. It has driven her to research and so avidly collect them that, according to the back flap of the dust jacket, she amassed one of the largest collections of samplers in the world! This book includes almost 80 pieces and is divided into 1/3 18th century and 2/3 19th century. Informative , entertaining and brilliant .. By now sociologists have pretty well demonstrated that industrialized nations, all of them high energy users, gain virtually nothing in measurable quality of life by using even more energy. I was never able to find out if any of this was true, but slight-proof was found when I did come to Amazon looking for the book. I highly recommend it
