Overall, I'm disappointed.. It covers each manufacturer alphabetically. I think that the book is ggod for mechanical enginnering in there work. Amy Licence combed obscure sources for hitherto unknown insights and has written them into a cohesive history. When I listened to the CD I could feel myself sitting in huge, cavernous cathedral listening to these songs at the time they were penned - it provided an extra sensory experience to go along with an already wonderful book.
If you want to know the story behind some of the greatest hymns written, I suggest you add this book to your library. Each chapter carries a strong message for each of us, not for "others." I am empowered by the bravery of teen mothers resisting the mold with which their welfare workers try to choke them. A nice touch was the occasional comparison of two or more images of the same subject.
