The book includes chapters from his writing on the poetry of the blues and on country music.Samuel Charters has written several books on the blues, as well as novels and memoirs. Many of his original recordings of artists who never reached a recording studio are available on CD.
Now in his seventies, Sam Charters is a jazz expert with over 11 books on jazz to his name. His 1959 book The Country Blues was the first serious examination of this seedbed of virtually all American music. He followed this book with The Legacy of the Blues and The Roots of the Blues (all Marion Boyars publications).

This book includes almost 80 pieces and is divided into 1/3 18th century and 2/3 19th century. After this successful academic experience, I featured Mothering Against the Odds as a Book of the Month on the Wise Woman Productions website. The truth about US universities is they were often seminaries, first. I had to keep reminding myself that this was not fiction, and we really have such honorable, compassionate, and brave women fighting for our country. I have my favorites and found some new ones Great collection to gnaw on. The solutions are all elegant and ingenious and a pleasure to behold in this explanatory light.
