Kiram comes from a culture where men loving one another is accepted and not looked down upon. This book is written in a clear, reasonable, direct manner -- the same style Sam Lazzaro exhibits in conducting casual conversation and/or packaging business deals. The fantasy is elaborate enough to allow the author to revisit the world or even the characters in a future sequel if she likes, but there are no cliffhangers that would necessitate it. Most of the former characters are seen in this latest novel, and there are some updates on how their lives are going. I took more time reading this book because I needed to absorb what these women had done and sacrificed for our country. There are some fascinating themes and characters, but they're all so wooden and stereotypical, the whole thing resembles one of those dreadful European fantasy movies on basic cable.
